
R-Phils Open Iconic Seven-Game Homestand Tuesday

The Reading Phillies 2010 season, presented by Pepsi, thrusts into the spotlight on Tuesday, August 3, as the club opens an iconic six-day, seven-game homestand at America's Classic Ballpark. Headlined by a Ryan Howard Garden Gnome giveaway, a Domonic Brown R-Phils Blue Replica Jersey giveaway, appearances by "The Bull" and the "Phanatic", and more, the upcoming six-game homestand is one of the most star-studded homestands ever.
Tickets for all upcoming R-Phils home games are still available and can be purchased in-person at FirstEnergy Stadium, by calling (610) 375-8469, or online at readingphillies.com.
On Tuesday, August 3, the R-Phils kick-off the seven-game homestand at FirstEnergy Stadium with a day full of events for the whole family. The exciting day at America's Classic Ballpark will include a doubleheader against the Trenton Thunder, with first-pitch set for 6:05 p.m., a Ryan Howard Garden Gnome giveaway, a Jimmy Buffett Tribute concert in the Classic Café before game one and in-between games, Baseball Bingo, and more.
Named by ESPN as the "Best Promotion in Minor League Baseball", the Ryan Howard Garden Gnome, presented by FirstEnergy, will be given away to the first 2,500 adults who come out to the Tuesday, August 3 twin bill. The Ryan Howard Garden Gnome depicts a kneeling Howard in his R-Phils uniform, sporting a Gnome Beard and Gnome hat. The Ryan Howard Garden Gnome giveaway will begin when food court gates open at 4:00 p.m.
Musician John Hain will take the stage in the Classic Café for two great performances, as the R-Phils will pay tribute to Jimmy Buffett, thanks to Rock Hits Y102. The Classic Café gates open at 4:00 p.m., and Hain will perform a pre-game concert from 4:15 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. Fans 21 and older can enjoy $1.00 off select beers from 4:00-5:00 p.m. for Happy Hour, and after the completion of game one, Hain will return to the Classic Café stage to entertain the crowd before the start of game two.
Tuesday's contest will also mark the third Genesis HealthCare Assisted Living Communities R-Phils Senior Club game, with $3.00 off for all Senior Club members, plus a pre-game question and answer session from 4:00 p.m. to 4:45 p.m., thanks to Genesis HealthCare Assisted Living Communities. Senior Club members can enter via the Ryan Howard Batting Tunnel Entrance, which will allow them to skip the lines, be the first to get their giveaway items, and then proceed to the Pool Picnic Area for their pre-game chat session. Admission into the club is free and anyone 62 years or older can join.
Also, Active and Veteran Military members receive $3.00 off yellow box seats, and as with every Tuesday, all fans can play Baseball Bingo, courtesy of Maidencreek Banquet Hall, for a chance to win some great R-Phils prizes.
On Wednesday, August 4, Greg "The Bull" Luzinski, one of the all-time greats in Reading Phillies and Philadelphia Phillies history, and the Phillie Phanatic, one of the most beloved mascots in the history of sports, will return to America's Classic Ballpark to meet, greet, and entertain fans during the R-Phils 7:05 p.m. contest against the Trenton Thunder. Food court gates open at 5:00 p.m. and The Neo Trio takes the stage at 5:00 for a thrilling 90-minute concert on the Classic Café stage. Happy Hour returns with $1.00 select beers from 5:00 - 6:00 p.m.
A member of the Reading Baseball Hall of Fame, Luzinski will throw out a ceremonial first pitch and also address the crowd on-hand at America's Classic Ballpark. "The Bull" will then sign free autographs for fans beginning at 7:00 p.m. in the food court. Fans can also purchase 8x10 photos for only $5 and have them autographed by the former Phillies great. Luzinski, who opened "Bull's Barbecue" at Citizen's Bank Park, will also be selling his very popular barbecue sauce "The Bull BBQ Sauce".
Along with Luzinski, The World Famous Phillie Phanatic will make his third and final appearance at FirstEnergy Stadium on Wednesday, thanks to Empire Beauty Schools. The Phanatic, who debuted on April 25, 1978 at Veterans Stadium in Philadelphia, has been entertaining fans for over thirty years, and will bring his exciting show to Baseballtown for one more time in 2010.
Wednesday's game is also a 4 for $48 Family Night, and fans can get four yellow box seat tickets, four sodas, four hot dogs, and the opportunity to play catch on the field before the 7:05 p.m. contest, thanks to Capital BlueCross. Also, families can take advantage of a $16 Family Night at the Pool, which features a two and a half hour buffet at a poolside picnic table and a visit from a Reading Phillies player, courtesy of the Reading Eagle.
On Thursday, at 7:05 p.m., the R-Phils and Trenton Thunder will play the finale of their four-game set. Food court gates open at 5:00 p.m., and Red will take the stage for a pre-game concert from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. Fans 21 and older can enjoy $1.00 off select beers from 5:00-6:00 p.m. for Happy Hour in the Classic Café.
All fans who come out early on Thursday will also be in for a treat, as the R-Phils will feature "Howl at the Moon Night", with Full Moon and Ghost Stories by Charlie Adams, thanks to 830 AM WEEU. Adams has written 25 books and has been telling ghost stories for over 30 years. After the game, stick around for another amazing fireworks show, thanks to St. Joseph Medical Center - Stroke Awareness.
On Friday, August 6, the R-Phils continue their seven-game homestand, and open a three-game set with the Erie SeaWolves at 7:05 p.m with post-game fireworks thanks to Capital BlueCross. Food court gates once again open at 5:00 p.m. and fans will want to make their way over to the Classic Café for an exciting 90-minute concert (5:00 -6:30 p.m.) from Bunchafunk, featuring Reggie Brown. All fans 21 and older can also enjoy $1.00 off select beers during Happy Hour (5:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.).
The R-Phils are also hosting a special Redner's R-Phils Kids Club Family Sleepover on the field, and all Redner's R-Phils Kids Club Members are invited to attend. Following the game on all Kids Club Members and their families can re-enter the ballpark and set up tents right in the outfield grass. Each person sleeping over receives a delicious hot dog and a soda, and can watch a family friendly baseball movie on the big screen videoboard. Tickets are only $10 each, or $8 each, if purchasing 10 or more.
Friday's game also features another fantastic 4 for $48 Family Night with play catch on the field, thanks to Capital BlueCross. Also the R-Phils will once again light-up the-sky with an awesome post-game fireworks show, presented by Capital BlueCross. After the fireworks, all fans can make their way over to the Classic Café, as Bunchafunk returns for an exciting post-game concert.
On Saturday, August 7, Reading and Erie battle in game two, and food court gates open at 4:30 p.m., as the excitement begins. The R-Phils Mascot Band, presented by National Penn Bank, takes the Classic Café stage for an exciting 60-minute musical performance, and fans 21 and older can enjoy $1.00 select beers from 4:30 - 5:30 p.m. After the game, stick around for a great post-game, filled with fireworks, thanks to Carpenter Technology Corp., and a post-game concert featuring Choo Choo Charlie Williams and the Spitfires.
On Sunday, August 8, the R-Phils will giveaway a Domonic Brown R-Phils Navy Blue Replica Jersey to the first 2,000 kids, thanks to Redner's Warehouse Markets. First pitch of Sunday's game is set for 6:05 p.m. in the finale of a three-game set with the Erie SeaWolves.
"Domonic Brown is one of the most popular players to ever come through Baseballtown", said R-Phils GM Scott Hunsicker. "Domonic had a great 2010 season in Reading, and we thought why not be the first to give our fans something to remember his time here in Baseballtown."
Brown, who made his Major League debut on Wednesday, July 28 with the Philadelphia Phillies, began the 2010 season with Reading, and hit an impressive .318 with 15 home runs and 47 RBIs over 65 games. A fan-favorite in Baseballtown since being promoted here in 2009 from Clearwater (A), the Florida-born Brown will also be remembered as one of the most talented players to come through Reading.
Sunday's game also marks the sixth free ticket game for all Redner's R-Phils Kids Club members, thanks to Redner's Warehouse Markets, Reading Eagle, and 69 News Berks Edition. Kids Club members and their families can enter FirstEnergy Stadium at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, and enjoy an exclusive Kids Club pre-game question and answer session with Reading Phillies players from 4:00 - 4:45 p.m.
Great food and fun continue at America's Classic Ballpark, as Sundays are also Dollar Dog days. All fans can chow down on delicious $1.00 hot dogs, thanks to Stroehmann's and Berks Packing. Also on Sunday, the Reading Phillies will pay tribute to Grandparents and Grandchildren with a special on-field ceremony and grand prize vacation giveaway to Wildwood, thanks to White Star Travel and 830 AM WEEU. The on-field ceremony begins at 5:00pm. Fans will want to stick around after the game, as every Sunday home game also gives all fans the chance to take part in a Post-Game Run the Bases, thanks to 69 News Berks Edition.
