
Quintana, Fisher Cats beat Sea Dogs

(Portland, ME)--- Al Quintana drove in two runs with two doubles and a triple and Randy Boone matched a career high with nine strikeouts as the New Hampshire Fisher Cats beat the Portland Sea Dogs 11-3 before 7,303 at Hadlock Field.
The Fisher Cats (41-48) scored six runs in the top of the first inning. Adam Calderone (2-for-5, R) delivered the first hit, a double, Brad Emaus walked and both scored on a double by David Cooper to make it 2-0. Nick Gorneault singled and Scott Campbell doubled scoring Cooper. Gorneault advanced to third on the hit and scored on an error when Portland's Jorge Jimenez threw wildly to home to make it 4-0. Darin Mastroianni then singled Campbell home and after stealing second and third, scored on a double by Quintana (3-for-5, 2 2B, 3B, 2 RBI)to make it 6-0.
New Hampshire extended the lead to 8-0 in the top of the third inning against Portland starter and losing pitcher Ryne Lawson (1-8). Quintana doubled, and after walks to Todd Donovan and Calderone, Emaus (1-for-2, 3 BB, R, 2 RBI) singled in two runs.
Portland (42-46) plated its first run of the game in the bottom of the third inning on an RBI single by Jorge Jimenez.
The Fisher Cats added to the lead against reliever Chad Rhoads in the top of the fourth inning. Gorneault (2-for-4, 2 R) walked and moved to third on a Campbell (2-for-5, 2 R, RBI) double. Mastroianni (1-for-5, R, 2 RBI) drove in Gorneault with a ground out to make it 9-1. Quintana's third hit, a triple off the wall in right field, knocked in Campbell to make it 10-1. He scored on a fielders choicer grounder by Donovan to make it 11-1.
Portland made it 11-2 in the bottom of the sixth on an RBI single by John Otness and added a solo homer by Ryan Kalish (3-for-4, HR, RBI, 2 R) off Nate Starner for the final run.
Boone (6-5) went six innings, allowing six hits and two runs, one earned. He walked one and matched his career high with nine strikeouts. Starner earned his first save since the 2006 season, working three innings in relief, allowing one run on one hit.
The Fisher Cats and Sea Dogs wrap up the series on Monday afternoon at Hadlock Field. New Hampshire sends right-hander Kenny Rodriguez (1-1, 6.17) to the mound at 12:00pm. The Sea Dogs will counter with RHP Adam Mills (5-5, 5.47).. Radio coverage begins at 11:45am with the BayRing Pre-Game Show on the WGIR Fisher Cats Radio Network with Bob Lipman and Ben Altsher.
