Quick-Strike Offense Sets Nuts up for 5-1 Win

Modesto, CA. - Early offense supported Parker French in the Modesto Nuts' 5-1 win over the Inland Empire 66ers on Saturday at John Thurman Field.

In the first, the Nuts (26-43) tagged Jeremy Rhoades (L, 1-8) for three runs on four consecutive hits. Wes Rogers started the barrage with a single. Shane Hoelscher followed with a single of his own. Drew Weeks drove in Rogers with a single, his fifth RBI in the series. Dom Nunez turned it into added on with a two-run double.

Omar Carrizales capped the Nuts' scoring in the second with a two-run blast, his second homer in three at-bats going back to the night before. Rhoades worked four innings in his start for the 66ers (22-47). He allowed six hits, walked two and struck out three.

Parker French (W, 3-5) was sharp over six innings allowing one run on three singles. It was his ninth quality start in ten starts for the Nuts. French struck out six and walked only one.

Logan Cozart (S, 2/3) entered in the eighth and stranded two inherited runners before retiring the side in order in the top of the ninth.
