Florence Y'alls
Kalamazoo, Michigan: The Freedom came into last night's game looking to get their bats going, with Pitching already going strong. The Florence bats failed to come out of the icebox, falling in the bottom of the ninth to Kalamazoo, 2-1.
The Kings managed to score a run in the third, but Jason Bowlin held them scoreless until he left, pitching another beautifal game, but the bats failed to come through and he left down 1-0. The Freedom bats were pretty much silenced until the eighth inning, when there was two on with no outs, but Scott Pickens popped up a bunt to the King's pitcher, and he threw to second to double up Scotty Martin. Josh Sanchez then popped out. Mickey O'Quinn and Ted Rowe blanked the Kings in the eighth. In the ninth, Mike Galloway doubled, but a botched call by the home plate umpire cost Florence a run by calling out Brandon Cornell at home plate, and the call proved to be the deciding factor. Trevor Hall singled in Mike Galloway from second to tie the game, but in the King's half of the ninth, they scored the walk off run to win it, 2-1. Ted Rowe picked up the loss.
The Freedom bats continue to sleep, and pitching continues to be wonderful. The first place Washington Wild Things beat the River City Rascals, and their lead grows on the Freedom, now up by three games. Evansville beat Windy City, so they continue to gain ground on the second place Freedom. Hopefully the bats will can come alive tonight at 6:35 in Kalamazoo.
