Evansville Otters News Release

Rick Weber pitched seven strong innings and the Otters gave up unearned runs in the fifth and sixth innings, which turned out to be the game winners as the Windy City ThunderBolts evened their series against the Evansville Otters, winning game two 6-3.

The Otters went up 1-0 in the first inning on a homerun by Jeff Goldbach. However, Windy City got the run back and took the lead in the bottom half of the inning on a two-run homerun by Justin Schuda.

The Otters retook the lead in the third on a single by Beau Blacken to go ahead 3-2. However, the T-Bolts tied the game in the fourth on Schuda's second homer of the game to make it 3-3.

Windy City took the lead for good in the fifth when they scored an unearned run. It could have been worse as the ThunderBolts had the bases loaded with no one out in the inning. The T-Bolts scored another unearned run in the sixth to make it 5-3. Windy City would score a run in the eighth to round out the scoring.

After allowing the pair of runs in the third, Weber (1-0) was excellent, retiring 13 of the next 14 batters. Lenny Bays pitched a scoreless eighth and Chris Hayes tossed the ninth for his fourth save. Chris Pillsbury (4-6) took the loss for Evansville.

In the series finale tomorrow a pair of rookies will take to the mound as Cody Blackard (4-2) will go for Evansville against Preston Simms (4-1) for the ThunderBolts.
