July 27, 2015 - California League (CalL1)
Inland Empire 66ers News Release

San Bernardino, CA- The Rancho Cucamonga Quakes downed the Inland Empire 66ers 15-10 in a slugfest that witnessed the clubs combine for 30 hits, four errors and 24 runners left on base. The win gave the Quakes a series-victory three-games-to-one.

The Quakes scored at-least one run in every inning but the first and ninth frames. The 66ers never retired Rancho Cucamonga (54-43, 14-14) in order in the entire game as the pitching staff allowed 15 hits, 11 walks, three hit batters and five wild pitches. Victor Alcantara took the loss for the 66ers. The righty allowed seven runs on nine hits in 4.1 innings with five K's and four walks. He fell to 5-8 on the year.

Carlos Frias started for the Quakes on a MLB injury rehab from the Dodgers and lasted just two outs allowing two runs on 24 pitches. He was the first of seven pitchers used by the Quakes. Zack Bird was credited with the win despite giving up six runs in 2.1 innings. He is now 5-7. The teams combined to use 13 pitchers.

Jacob Scavuzzo was four-for-four for the Quakes and reached base in all six of his plate appearances. Joey Curletta tagged a three-run homer (9) in a six-run top of the fifth for Rancho that also saw Cody Bellinger drill a two-run job, his team- best 18th. Oddly enough, the inning did not break the game open as the 66ers (47-50, 12-15) scored six of their own runs in the bottom of the fifth opened by Mike Fish's second homer of the season. Fish had a pair of doubles in the game as well. Kody Eaves tagged three-run homer in the frame as well, his tenth of the year.

Through six innings the Quakes lead was 11-10 but the Sixers pen could not slow down the onslaught as the Quakes added two runs in the seventh and eighth innings while AJ Vanegas, Karch Kowacyzk and Michael Johnson shut the 66ers out in the final three innings. Andrew Daniel had three hits for Inland Empire while Eric Aguilera had a double and triple. The contest took three hours and 59 minutes.

Inland Empire visits Lake Elsinore at 6:00 pm on Monday. The game can be heard live on 66ers.com.
