July 27, 2015 - California League (CalL1)
Modesto Nuts News Release
Visalia, CA. - A two-out throwing error brought in the winning runs in the eleventh for the Modesto Nuts in their 7-5 win against the Visalia Rawhide on Sunday night at Recreation Park.
With two outs in the ninth, and Troy Stein at second, Wilson Soriano struck out. However, the ball snuck away from the Rawhide (60-39; 18-11) catcher Stryker Trahan. His subsequent throw went down the line allowing Stein to score the winning run. Cesar Galvez followed and drove in Soriano for the insurance tally.
The Nuts (53-46; 20-9) remain alone in first place in the Second Half Standings and pull into a tie with the Stockton Ports in the Wild Card Standings.
Wilson Soriano had tied the game for the Nuts in the ninth with a bloop RBI single to right to score Correlle Prime.
Matt Carasiti (S, 12/14) remained perfect in his last five appearances with a 1-2-3 eleventh.
Trent Daniel (W, 3-3) tossed two scoreless innings. Devin Burke worked 2.2 scoreless frames out of the Nuts bullpen as well.
Mason McCullough (L, 4-2) worked two frames out of the Rawhide bullpen.
A new three-game series starts against the Ports in Stockton on Monday night at 7:10 p.m. Coverage on ModestoNuts.com will start at 7:05 p.m.
