Rancho Cucamonga Quakes News Release

Fresno, CA - The Quakes avoided the no-hitter on Thursday night, but fell short at the end, as the Fresno Grizzlies won their second straight, taking a 4-2 decision at Chukchansi Park.

Sauryn Lao led off the eighth inning with a solo home run, busting up a potential no-hit bid by Fresno starter Breiling Eusebio.

Lao's homer was his seventh of the year and made it a 4-1 game. Eusebio (5-0) was allowed to face one more batter, as he then surrendered another bomb, this one to Wladimir Chalo, making it a 4-2 game.

That's as close as the Quakes would get however, as Robinson Hernandez retired all three batters he faced to finish the eighth, before closer Stephen Jones did the same in the ninth to earn his fourth save.

All of Fresno's runs came on the long ball as well, as Grant Lavigne, Mateo Gil and Zac Veen all went deep for the Grizzlies.

Rancho starter Carlos Duran (1-2) gave up the first two long-balls and was saddled with the loss on Thursday night.

On Friday, the Quakes (25-25) will go with Gavin Stone (0-1), as he'll be opposed by Mike Ruff (4-2) of Fresno, in the fourth game of the six-game set. Game four will begin at 6:50pm.

On Tuesday, July 6th, the Quakes return to LoanMart Field for another Temblores Tuesday. Tickets are available at rcquakes.com.
