Quad City Steamwheelers News Release

There's no way to sugar coat last week's 80-41 loss to the Barnstormers in Iowa. It was the Steamwheelers' biggest loss of the season, right in the middle of their late-season push for playoff positioning. The Barnstormers are mathematically eliminated from the postseason race, but they've won two games in a row and have been looking to play spoiler to team's with Championship aspirations.

The Bad: Giving up 80 points. No matter how. No matter why. The Wheelers know what is expected and will look to bounce back in a big way Saturday night, at home in front of the sQUAD CITY faithful.

The Good: Head Coach Cory Ross' offense put up 41 points during their most challenging outing of the season. The return of rookie star wide receiver C.J. Windham saw the Middle Tennessee State alumni haul in 6 receptions for 97 yards and 2 touchdowns. Veteran defensive back Malik Duncan led the Wheelers with 8.5 total tackles (8 solo).

Quarterback E.J. Hilliard Jr. tacked on five more touchdowns (three passing, two rushing) to his season total of 66 (43 passing, 23 rushing).

What will happen when the defending Eastern Conference Champions of the IFL return home for their rubber-match with the Barnstormers? Tune in Saturday June 24th at 7:05 p.m. CT to find out.
