IFL Week Fifteen Preview

Published on June 22, 2023 under Indoor Football League (IFL) News Release

With four weeks left in the 2023 regular season, only two of the fourteen teams have been eliminated from playoff contention. With so much up in the air, week 15 will be fun.

Friday night's game in Sioux Falls is a perfect way to begin. Green Bay and Sioux Falls are both 6-5, tied for the fourth and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. The fact that this game is critical goes without saying. While no team will be eliminated, one team will be in a much better position heading into the final three weeks of the season.

Saturday's games begin with Tulsa traveling to Massachusetts to take on the Pirates. Massachusetts (8-3) is sitting second in the East with a 1.5 game lead over the sputtering Steamwheelers. They're also only 1.5 games behind the Conference leading Frisco Fighters. Despite being 1-11, Tulsa can't be overlooked. Of their eleven losses, six have been by one score or less.

It should be interesting in Quad City on Saturday night. It's the second part of a home-and-away series for the Barnstormers and Steamwheelers. Iowa shocked Quad City and the rest of the league last week by bludgeoning the Steamwheelers 80-41. Iowa's new quarterback, Daniel Smith, put up 292 yards and six total touchdowns. They might be out of contention, but Iowa is fired up. Quad City has slipped to third in the East after losing three of their last four games.

It doesn't take much to build up the game in Frisco this weekend. Simply, it's the top two teams in each conference facing off with a ton on the line. The best in East hosting the best in the West. Both teams hold slim leads in their conferences and a win on Saturday will go a long way in their playoff aspirations.

Vegas travels to Duke City on Saturday. The bottom two teams in the Western Conference still have a lot to play for. Actually, they have everything to play for. Whichever team loses this game has their playoff dreams all but dismissed. Essentially, this is a playoff game in Week 15.

Just like Green Bay versus Sioux Falls, Tucson traveling to NAZ is a battle of two teams currently tied for the fourth and final playoff spot in their conference. Both teams have had swings in both directions throughout the season. At this point of the season, your best team needs to show up. Who will hold the fourth spot in the West after the Wranglers host the Sugar Skulls?

The week is capped off with Arizona hosting San Diego. Arizona is looking to win their sixth straight game and take sole possession of the conference lead. San Diego, who's season has been revived since trading for Nate Davis are looking to secure a spot in the playoffs in only their second year of existence. Both teams have exceptional quarterbacks and powerful offenses. Expect fireworks in Arizona on Saturday night.

As the 2023 IFL Playoffs approach, the consequences grow. Week 15 features seven games. Ten of the twelve teams are vying for playoff position. There is one game on Friday and six on Saturday. Get all the details at www.GoIFL.com.
