BURLINGTON, N.C. -- The Sock Puppets prevailed in a thriller on Sunday night, winning 2-1 on the backs of home runs from Marshall Raper and Caleb Farmer, and strong outings on the mound from Sergio Patsy and Cole Reynolds.

Patsy got the game started with a good first inning, working around a double to keep the game scoreless. In the home half of the inning, Marshall Raper decided to break the tie early. He led off the home half of the first with a moonshot over the high wall in right center to put the Puppets up 1-0. Patsy would continue his brilliance, cruising through the next four innings and not allowing a run. In the fourth, Caleb Farmer blasted a home run over the wall in left to bring the tally to 2-0 in favor of the Hand Socks. In the sixth, Patsy gave up four singles and Andrew Lujan committed an error, but only one run scored after Patsy made a great play fielding a ball that deflected off of his body to end the inning. Patsy finished the night going six innings, giving up one run and striking out five. Cole Reynolds entered the game in the top of the seventh inning and recorded a 1-2-3 inning to earn the save.

With the win, the Puppets improve to 12-17-2 on the year, and the Axmen drop to 12-19. The Sock Puppets will begin a two-game series against the Pulaski River Turtles on Monday at 7PM from Burlington Athletic Stadium.
