
Providence Bruins Fall to Phantoms 4-2

Providence, RI - The Providence Bruins fell to the Lehigh Valley Phantoms 4-2 tonight at the Dunk. Anton Blidh and Jordan Szwarz scored for Providence. Malcolm Subban recorded 22 saved on 25 shots on a losing effort.
The Providence Bruins get off to a rough start going on the penalty kill just 7:34 into the period, when Matt Bartkowski was called for high sticking. 10 seconds into the power play the Phantom's Mark Zebgerie scored the first goal of the game on an assist by Jordan Weal. Roughly three minutes later the P-Bruins found themselves killing their second penalty when Tommy Cross got tangled with the Phantoms Colin McDonald and was whistled for interference. The P-Bruins managed to kill the penalty to keep the score 1-0 Lehigh Valley. Providence tied things up late in the period when Anton Blidh scored his third of the season with assists from Wayne Simpson and Jordan Szwarz. the period ended with the teams tied 1-1
Both teams played even throughout the period with each registering 14 shots. At 7:36 in the second Phantoms Forward Nicolas Aube-Kubel scored the only goal of the period with an assist from Radel Fazleev and Robert Hagg. despite the score the even play continued for the remainder of the period which ended with the Phantom's leading 2-1.
Starting the period on the power play, the Phantoms quickly added to their lead when Greg Carey scored on assist by T.J Brennan and Jordan Weal. the two goal deficit would hold throughout most of the period despite the P-Bruins outshooting the Phantoms. At 16:23 Jordan Szwarz cut the lead 3-2 on a goal assisted by Chris Porter and Tommy Cross. At 18:30 Providence pulled Malcolm Subban for an extra attacker in an attempt to tie the game they would get no closer as Lehigh Valley's Scott Laughton scored an unassisted empty net goal to seal the victory.
Providence Bruins will be home at the Dunk again tomorrow night Saturday, November 5th at 7:05 for a match up with The Hartford Wolf Pack.
