Providence Bruins News Release
The Providence Bruins announced today their roster to start the 2004-05 regular season. Currently on the roster are 12 players returning from last season. The roster features two goaltenders, seven defensemen and 13 forwards.
Returning players from last season include defensemen Kevin Dallman and Milan Jurcina, forwards Martin Samuelsson, Carl Corazzini, Kris Vernarsky, Pat Leahy, Andy Hilbert, Brad Boyes, Brendan Walsh and Colton Orr, and goaltenders Hannu Toivonen and Peter Hamerlik.
New players include defensemen Brent Thompson, Chris Dyment, Steve Munn, Jayme Filipowicz and Pat Aufiero, and forwards Yorick Treille, Ben Guite and David Gove.
In addition, Patrice Bergeron, who was outstanding in his rookie season with the Boston Bruins in 2003-04, will also be on the roster. At 18, Bergeron was the youngest player in the NHL, but still racked up 16-23-39 totals in 71 games.
Veteran left wing Jay Henderson is also on the roster, as he returns to the team with which he began his career in 1997-98. Henderson, 26, is coming off his third Calder Cup (with the Milwaukee Admirals), and was a member of the Bruins' 1998-99 Calder Cup championship team. He enters this season with 44-57-101 in 206 games with Providence. Henderson ranks seventh in Providence Bruins history in games played, and third in penalty minutes, with 656 PIM.
The Bruins open up the 2004-05 regular season, their 13th in the AHL, on Friday, October 15, when they host the Springfield Falcons at 7:05 p.m.
The Bruins are pleased to offer two current ticket specials. With every book of 10 FlexTix purchased, 2 FREE tickets for Opening Night will be added to the package. Fans can also purchase the Bruins' 3-Game Plan. There are four different 3-Game Plans to choose from, each offering three exciting games for just $24.
