Pirates Will Hold News Conference Thursday

PORTLAND, ME – The Portland Pirates will hold a news conference on Thursday, October 14th at 1:00p.m. in the Captain's Club of the Cumberland County Civic Center, at which time the Pirates will announce their official opening night 2004-2005 roster and team captains.

Pirates' Head Coach Tim Army will also talk about the Pirates four-game unbeaten streak during exhibition play and provide his outlook on the upcoming season. Coaches Army and Leach will also be available to discuss the AHL's rule changes and playing standards, put in effect by the league to increase the flow of the game and generate additional offensive opportunities.

Pirates' President/COO Brian Williams will also talk about the Pirates promotional focus on "Saturday Night is Hockey Night", the Pirates new marketing platform.

Conference participants and all Pirates players will be available for individual interviews. The press event is open to the public.

In the pre-season, the Pirates were undefeated and they were the only team in the AHL to post a record of 4-0. The Pirates home opener is scheduled for Saturday, October 16, Hockey Night in Portland, at the Civic Center, against the St. John's Maple Leafs. Face-off is 7:05pm. Tickets are still available.
