Prince George Sweeps Everett

Tonight at the CN Centre in Prince George, BC the Everett Silvertips were shut out 3-0 by the Prince George Cougars. This was the final meeting of four during the regular season and the Silvertips finished ahead in the series 3-1. Everett, now holding the US Division Title, has a 39-24-2-3 record and 83 points. Prince George, fourth place in the BC Division, rises to 35-28-1-4 and 75 points.

The Cougars were slow and steady, scoring one goal a period. Eric Hunter converted on two Prince George power plays, one at 16:30 of the first and one at 16:25 of the second. Ty Wishart and Nicholas Drazenovic earned assists on both of his goals. Then at 17:03 of the third period, Cody McMullin scored an unassisted goal to finish the game at 3-0.

Matt Esposito earned a start tonight and turned away 27 of 30 shots. His short goaltending record falls to 3-4-1-0. Scott Bowles, in the net for a second night against the Silvertips, stopped all 14 shots he saw and earned his sixth shutout of the year. On the power play Everett could not convert on seven chances while Prince George scored on two of three. The Cougars out shot the Silvertips 30-14.

The Everett Silvertips now travel to Kelowna, BC where they will face off against the defending Western Hockey League Champions, the Kelowna Rockets. The puck drops early at 5pm.
