Pride Win Third Straight at Home
FLORENCE, SC -- The Florence Pride scored four unasnswered goals in an 8:34 span at the end of the secone period to defeat the South Carolina Stingrays 7-4 Friday at the Florence Civic Center. The win is the Pride's season-high third straight at home.
The Pride led 2-1 after one, but the Stingrays scored twice just 1:12 apart in the first 3:59 of the second period to take a 3-2 lead.
Allan Sirois tied it at 3 with his second goal of the night at the 10:02 mark. At 15:29, Kyle Kidney found the back of the net for his 17th of the season to give Florence the lead. The Pride struck again at 17:09 as Shaun Sutter connected off of an assist from Luke Earl to make it 5-3. Florence finished off its flurry at 18:36 as Matt Reid reipped a shot home.
The Stingrays pulled within two at 10:11 of the second as Kevin Spiewak scored his second of the night, on a power-play. But, that would be as close as the the Stingrays would get, as Wes Goldie set the final with his second tally of the night into an empty net with 1:14 to go.
Florence is at Augusta Saturday and hosts Louisiana on Sunday.
