Smital loaned to San Antonio Rampage of the AHL

BEAUMONT, TX (March 12, 2004) – Texas Wildcatters Head Coach Robert Dirk announced today that forward Lukas Smital has loaned to the San Antonio Rampage of the American Hockey League (AAA Level). He is expected to be in the lineup tonight, when the Rampage take on the Houston Aeros in the first game of a home and home series.

The 29-year-old, Smital, has played 10 games over two seasons in the AHL, netting two goals and picking up six penalty minutes. The Brno, Czech Republic native is in his eight professional hockey season in North America. In 29 games with Texas this season, Smital ranks sixth in team scoring (15-15-30). He led the Wildcatters in shots on goal with five and was even in last night's 4-2 loss against the Mississippi Sea Wolves.

Smital becomes the fourth Wildcatters' player to be called up to the AHL this season. He joins defenseman Tim Braham who has been with the Portland Pirates since December 11th. Forward Cory Morgan played one game with the Aeros in December and goalie Mark Scally dress for two games with the Grand Rapids Griffons last month.
