March 12, 2004 - ECHL (ECHL)
Florida Everblades News Release
ESTERO, FL - The Florida Everblades (31-23-10) lost to the Greenville Grrrowl (12-44-5) 4-1 Friday night in front of 7,173 at TECO Arena. Florida maintained their second place position in the Southern Division despite the loss.
Trailing 2-0 in the third period, Florida forward Chad Larose found an open space in the slot and fired a wrist shot passed former Everblades netminder Daniel Boisclair. Despite the goal, the Blades would not pull any closer as goals by Michael Chin and Steve Burgess sealed the 4-1 victory for the Grrrowl.
In the first period, Greenville controlled most of the action and would score the lone goal when Russell Spence fired a close in shot over goaltender Jeff Maund's shoulder for a 1-0 lead.
Greenville increased it's lead to 2-0 in the second period when Ryan Stewart converted an odd man rush.
Maund stopped 29 of 33 shots. Boisclair stopped 46 of 47 shots. Florida finished 0 for 4 on the power play while Greenville went 1 for 2. The Everblades and Grrrowl will meet again Saturday, March 13th at TECO Arena. Game time is 7:30 PM.
