Gornick and Reierson Assigned by Cincinnati

SAN DIEGO — Left-winger Brian Gornick and defenseman Andy Reierson have been assigned to the San Diego Gulls by the American Hockey League's Cincinnati Mighty Ducks. Both will be in the lineup Friday against the Fresno Falcons.

Gornick, 23, played five games with the Gulls in February, recording four points (2g, 2a). In 25 games with the Mighty Ducks this season, he has two points (1g, 1a) and 12 penalty minutes. In his rookie season with Cincinnati last season, the 6-foot-5-inch, 210-pound native of St. Paul Minn. scored six points (2g, 4a) and 14 penalty minutes in 54 games. Gornick was a ninth round selection of the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft.

Reierson, 25, played three games with San Diego in December, recording two assists and two penalty minutes. In 24 games with the Mighty Ducks this season, he has five assists and 12 penalty minutes. Last season – his rookie year – the 6-foot-1-inch, 200-pound native of Moorhead, Minn. split time between Cincinnati and the AHL's San Antonio Rampage, notching 14 points (3g, 11a) in 62 games. Before turning pro, Reierson played four years at the University of Minnesota – Duluth.

Both Gornick and Reierson will be in the lineup Friday night against Fresno. Reierson is expected to return to Cincinnati early next week.
