Preview: Storm Travel to Lincoln for Game #3 of Corn Cup

Lincoln, NE. - The Tri-City Storm travel to the Ice Box in Lincoln tonight for a battle against the Lincoln Stars in the Storm's third game of the 2020 Corn Cup Tournament. Following tonight's game against the Stars, Tri-City returns home to the Viaero Center for a matchup against the Omaha Lancers at 4:05pm on Sunday. Puck drop for tonight's Corn Cup Tournament game in Lincoln is set for 7:05pm.

Tri-City (2-0-0-0) hits the road for the first time in this year's Corn Cup Tournament when it travels to the Ice Box in Lincoln for tonight's rivalry matchup against the Lincoln Stars. On Wednesday at the Viaero Center, Tri-City recorded a 5-2 victory over the Omaha Lancers. Isac Jonsson, Mason Wheeler, Davis Burnside, Vinny Borgesi, and Drew Montgomery all scored in the Storm's home win. Grant Riley recorded his first win of the Corn Cup in net for the Storm, making 16 saves on 18 Lancers' shots. Last Saturday night at the Viaero Center, Tri-City defeated Lincoln in Game #1 of the Corn Cup by a final score of 4-2. Guillaume Richard (2), Morgan Winters, and Caden Villegas scored in the win. Ryan Ouellette stopped 21 of the Stars' 23 shots on goal to record the victory in net for the Storm. Tri-City leads the 2020 Corn Cup standings entering tonight's game with a 2-0-0-0 record. The Storm has outshot its opponents by a combined margin of 79-41 in two games. Tonight's game is the Storm's only trip to the Ice Box during this year's Corn Cup Tournament.

Lincoln (0-2-0-0) has dropped its first two games of the 2020 Corn Cup Tournament and seeks its first win of the event tonight against the Storm. Following the Stars' 4-2 road loss to the Storm on Saturday, Lincoln dropped a home game against the Omaha Lancers by a final score of 4-1 on Sunday. Will Margel, Spencer Smith, and Joey Larson have scored the Stars' goals so far in this year's Corn Cup Tournament. Despite the 0-2-0-0 record, Lincoln's power play has proved to be a strength of the team in the opening two games of the Corn Cup. The Stars power play (27.3%) netted two goals against the Storm in the only previous meeting between the two teams in the Corn Cup Tournament. The power play is currently ranked 3rd best among USHL teams. Guy Blessing and Henrik Laursen have each seen time in net for Lincoln during Corn Cup games this year. Blessing made 38 saves on 42 shots in last Saturday's game against the Storm.
