Saginaw Spirit News Release

SAGINAW, MI - On Sunday afternoon, the Saginaw Spirit (18-23-2-2 40 points, 4th West Division) look to salvage the final game of a three-game Eastern Conference road-swing against the Ottawa 67's (23-20-1-1 48 points, 3rd East Division) at the TD Place in Ottawa, Ontario.

The Spirit dropped a hard-fought 6-1 decision to the Kingston Frontenacs on Friday evening in Kingston. 16-year-old Brady Gilmour potted his fourth goal of the season to get the Spirit on the board in the third period. The Fronts overwhelmed Spirit goaltenders Evan Cormier and Cameron Zanussi, putting 48 shots on goal. The Spirit have struggled as of late, winning only one of their last eight contests.

The Ottawa 67's have their last three games in a row, propelling themselves over the .500 mark and into seventh place in the Eastern Conference. Ottawa is led by undrafted 19 year-old Dante Salituro, who has 58 points on the season. Former Saginaw Spirit Jeramiah Addison is second on the team in scoring with 32 points. On the back-end, Ottawa is led by the older brother of Spirit defenseman Keaton Middleton, Jacob. The 2014 pick of the Los Angeles Kings has 19 points and leads the club in Penalty minutes with 52. In net, Leo Lazarev has played the bulk of the games this season for the 67's. He is 17-12-0-0 in 31 appearances this season.

Head-to-Head:

The Spirit meet the 67's for the second and final time on Sunday afternoon. On October 18th, the 67's used a Travis Barron hat-trick and four assists from former 67's captain Travis Konecny to power past the Spirit 6-4. Former Spirit forward Dylan Sadowy scored three of the Spirit's four goals on the evening.
