Matchup Notes

Tonight marks the first ever meeting of the Wenatchee Wild and the Edmonton Oil Kings. Wenatchee relocated from Winnipeg at the conclusion of the 2022/23 Western Hockey League season.

Prior to their four seasons as the Winnipeg Ice the franchise was located in Cranbrook, BC as the Kootenay Ice.

All-time, the Oil Kings and the Wild franchise have met 84 times in the regular season with the Oil Kings holding a record of 46-29-4-5.

Coming In

The Oil Kings have won 4 of their last 5 games, and are coming off of a 2-1 win in Lethbridge on Friday night.

Edmonton jumped out to a 2-0 lead through the opening 20 minutes, outshooting the 8th seed in the Eastern Conference 12-5 after the opening frame. Defenseman Matt Gallant opened the scoring after Oil King Forward Ty Nash broke in on the right wing, and fed the trailing #8 on a tee and he ripped a clapper off the post and in for his first goal as an Edmonton Oil King.

Moments later, #13 ranked NHL Central Scouting Forward Adam Jecho carried the puck in over the Hurricanes blue line and made a nifty toe-drag move before zipping a wrist shot from the high slot off of the crossbar and in.

Lethbridge answered back before the second period was a minute old, as Anaheim Ducks draft pick Sean Tschigerl one timed a shot from the hash-marks past Edmonton Goalie Kolby Hay to make it 2-1. The Hurricanes dominated the shots in the final 40 minutes, 27-5 but could not solve the Monte Creek, BC native. Hay was named the game's first star, turning aside 31 of 32 shots.
