Tri-City Americans News Release
Americans at Winterhawks
Sunday, October 15 | Portland, OR | Veterans Memorial Coliseum
Start Time: 5:00 p.m. PDT
After falling to the Wheat Kings Friday at the Toyota Center, the Ams bounced back with a 5-2 win over Kamloops. A three-goal third period pushed the Americans to victory, avoiding their first back-to-back loss of the season.
Lukas Dragicevic, Deagan McMillan, Jordan Gavin, Parker Bell, and Nick Anisimovicz scored for the Americans.
McMillan currently leads the team in scoring and is on a five-game point streak with four goals and three assists over that period. Bell's goal marks his first of the season as he returned from the Calgary Wranglers this week. He has points on five of Tri-City's seven goals since he has returned. Anisimovicz's goal was his first in the WHL. Matecha played the full game in net for the Ams, turning aside 23 of 25 shots faced and earning his third win in four starts.
The Americans and Winterhawks will meet tonight for the first time in their six-game season series. Tri-City led their head-to-head series last season with a 4-2-0-0 record against Portland. Both teams are coming off wins over the Blazers. The Ams defeated Kamloops last night 5-2, and the Winterhawks played them on Saturday and winning 4-1. The Winterhawks haven't loss this season since falling 6-5 on opening night to the Wenatchee Wild. Tri-City will look to snap their streak tonight as the Ams wrap up a three-in-three weekend.
