Tri-City Americans News Release
Kennewick, WA - Tri-City Americans general manager Bob Tory today announced the team has signed 2010-born goaltender Karter Gibson to a Scholarship and Development Agreement. He was drafted 65th overall by the Americans in the 2025 WHL Prospects Draft.
"We're excited to welcome Karter and his family as he begins preparing for his WHL career," said Tory.
Gibson, from Aidrie, Alberta, was drafted by the Americans after a sensational 2024-25 campaign with the Northern Alberta Xtreme U15 team that saw him go 17-1 with a 1.30 goals against average, .936 save percentage and six shutouts.
The 6-foot-4 goaltender moved up to the U18 ranks this past season, going 8-5 with an .883 save percentage and 3.25 goals against average. He helped NAX's U18 team reach the championship game at the CSSHL Championships in Penticton last month, ultimately falling 6-3 to Rink Hockey Academy Kelowna.
While he didn't get into game action, Gibson joined the Americans for the final week of the regular season, serving as the backup to Xavier Wendt in the last two games of the year.
Gibson is the second member of the Americans 2025 draft class to sign with the team, joining first rounder Ben Oliverio.
