Greenville Drive News Release
Greenville, S.C. - The campaign trail can be very rigorous, especially when the prize is the most prominent position in the United States of America. And only baseball allows candidates to meet perspective voters while taking in America's Favorite Pastime.
On Friday, July 27th, Senator and 2008 Presidential hopeful John McCain will be in attendance for the Drive's game with the Charleston RiverDogs. The Senator, however, will not just be stashed in one of the luxury boxes, taking in the game. Instead, Senator McCain will be taking his views, both political and baseball, to the fans at West End Field.
"I am looking forward to getting back to the Upstate, and taking in my first Greenville Drive game," said Senator McCain.
McCain's activities will kick-off prior to the start of the game as the Senator, along with City of Greenville Mayor Knox White will be at the Main Street entrance greeting fans as they enter West End Field.
"We're honored to have Senator McCain come for Friday's game," commented Drive General Manager Mike deMaine. Drive President and Co-owner, Craig Brown, added, "It says a lot for Greenville and its ballpark that a presidential candidate with Senator McCain's stature would choose to spend an evening here greeting the fans and sharing in the fun at West End Field."
Throughout the course of the game Senator McCain will roam the stands meeting with baseball fans and supporters alike. In addition, fans will have the opportunity to win Drive memorabilia autographed by McCain.
"The Greenville Drive has put together an impressive organization," McCain noted. "They have a top-notch facility, an extremely supportive fan base, and a winning team. I am honored to be their guest on Friday night."
Friday night will also include fireworks at the conclusion of the game. Tickets to all Drive home games can be purchased by calling the Drive box office at (864) 240-4500 or by visiting www.GreenvilleDrive.com.
