July 25, 2007 - South Atlantic League (SAL1)
Kannapolis Cannon Ballers News Release

Kannapolis, NC ? The Rome Braves got on top after just two hitters Wednesday night and never trailed the entire game, beating the Kannapolis Intimidators, 12-5, at Fieldcrest Cannon Stadium. The win for the Braves (16-17, 45-58) snapped the Intimidators? (15-18, 47-56) three-game winning streak.

Leading off the game, Rome?s Travis Jones grounded a ball to third base and it was fielded by Francisco Hernandez. Playing in just his fourth game this season at the hot corner, Hernandez?s throw was low and Brandon Allen could not scoop it at first. Immediately following Jones, Phillip Britton doubled to left field to score Jones.

Rome went on to score in seven of the nine innings, including five in the ninth of Kannapolis reliever Jason Rice.

Kannapolis tried to keep pace for a while, cutting the lead to 4-3 after four innings. But, the Intimidators managed just four hits following the fourth inning.

Beau Jones (4-0) got the win in relief for Rome, going three innings and allowing two runs (one earned) on three hits. Jake Rasner (5-9) lost his third straight decision for Kannapolis, giving up five runs (three earned) on five hits in six innings.

Eight of the nine Braves batters drove in at least one run and all nine of them had at least one hit. Brandon Allen paced Kannapolis with two doubles and two RBIs. Stefan Gartrell and Lee Cruz each had two hits as well.

Kannapolis is now 3-1 on the homestand as it gets set to host Rome again Thursday night. Game time is set for 7:05 pm.
