
Preds sign Gamache, Brown

Nashville Predators Executive Vice President/General Manager David Poile announced today that the club has signed forwards Simon Gamache and Paul Brown and reassigned them and 19 other players to the Milwaukee Admirals of the American Hockey League.
Gamache, 23, registered 45 points (18g-27a) in 52 games with the Admirals and one goal in seven games with Nashville last season after being acquired from Atlanta on December 2. The 5-9, 185-pound, forward played an integral role during the Ads run to the Calder Cup Championship, notching 24 points (6g-18a), good for second on the team, and a +6 rating in the playoffs. In addition, Gamache scored at least a point in all four games of the Calder Cup Finals, including a four-point night (1g-3a) in Game Four. The Thetford Mines, Que. native has played in 11 career NHL games (1g-1a-2pts) with Atlanta and Nashville. He was originally Atlanta's 14th selection, 290th overall (ninth round), in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft.
Brown, 20, registered 31 points (11g-20a) in 59 games and led Kamloops of the Western Hockey League in penalty minutes (222) for the second straight season in 2003-04. The 6-2, 187-pound native of Edmonton, Alta., was Nashville's sixth choice, 89th overall (third round), in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft.
In addition, the Predators reassigned goaltender Brian Finley, defensemen Dan Hamhuis, Andrew Hutchinson, Kevin Klein, Andrei Mukhachev, Ryan Suter and Greg Zanon and forwards Brown, Vernon Fiddler, Gamache, Darren Haydar, Tony Hrkac, Libor Pivko, Brandon Segal, Cam Severson, Timofei Shishkanov, Wyatt Smith, Jerred Smithson, Jordin Tootoo, Scottie Upshall and Jeremy Yablonski to Milwaukee.
The Admirals will open training camp on September 30 in Milwaukee and will begin defense of their 2004 Calder Cup Championship on October 15 at 7:00 p.m. at the Bradley Center vs. the Chicago Wolves.
Milwaukee's 2004 training camp will feature returning 2004 Calder Cup champions Finley, Hutchinson, Zanon, Fiddler, Gamache, Haydar, Hrkac, Pivko, Segal, Shishkanov, Smith, Upshall and Yablonski. The Admirals roster also features Hamhuis and Tootoo, who were regulars in Nashville's lineup last season. Also on the roster will be 2003 Predator draft picks Brown, Klein, Mukhachev and Suter.
