Blackhawks re-sign Leighton

The Chicago Blackhawks announced today that they have re-signed goaltender Michael Leighton to a one-year deal.

Leighton, a 6'3", 186 pound, 23 year-old netminder split the season between the Blackhawks and their American Hockey League affiliate, the Norfolk Admirals. He appeared in 34 games with the Blackhawks last season posting a record of 6-18-8 with a 2.99 goals against average and a .900 save percentage with two shutouts. In 18 games with Norfolk, Leighton notched a record of 10-7-1 with one shutout, a 1.83 goals against average, and a .926 save percentage.

Originally selected by the Blackhawks in the 6th round, 165th overall, in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft, Leighton has appeared in 42 career NHL games with the Blackhawks while postings a 8-21-10 record with a 2.96 goals against average, a .905 save percentage and three shutouts.
