Thinel is starting his eighth season in Odessa. Last year in 64 games, he tallied 97 points on 22 goals & 75 assists. Odessa is also expected to have back in the line-up the CHL's top goaltender in 2009-10 in Joel Martin who was just reassigned from Bridgeport of the AHL (New York Islanders farm team). Last season, Martin posted an impressive 27-6-2 record with a 2.50 goals against average.
The Jackalopes are coached by Paul Gillis who area hockey fans may remember from his days in Quad City in the old United Hockey League. Gillis coached in the "Quad" from 1997/98 through 2004/05 and won the UHL Championship there in the 97/98 season.

The Tulsa Oilers are one of three original Central Hockey League teams (along with the Memphis RiverKings and Wichita Thunder) from when the league was formed in the spring of 1992. The Oilers are in action tonight in Bossier-Shreveport but are currently a perfect 2-0 on the year. The "Ice" Oilers are coached by Bruce Ramsey who UHL / IHL fans will remember from his playing days in Muskegon as an enforcer and as a successful head coach with the Port Huron Beacons, Muskegon Fury, and Muskegon Lumberjacks. Ramsey took Muskegon to the 2008/09 finals but lost the championship series. As a player, he was a hard working left wing who, while playing for the Thunder Bay Senators in the Colonial Hockey League, scored 14 goals, 29 assists, and 462 penalty minutes in 62 games during the 1994/95 season. Tulsa's leading scorers are Chad Costello and Jack Combs (each with 4 points; 1 goal & 3 assists). The Oilers roster also features former PrairieThunder Marty Standish who played in Bloomington during the 08/09 season.
