
Gems Team up with National Charity

Dayton, OH- The Dayton Gems Ownership Group, proud member of the Central Hockey League, in conjunction with the St. Jude Children's Hospital, announced today the game against the Odessa Jackalopes on Saturday, October 23rd at 7:30 p.m. will be known as St. Jude Children's Research Hospital theme night.
The Gems and the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital are taking the first step towards getting all Gems fans and anyone in the local community to participate in the Give thanks. Walk. an exciting family-friendly 5K walk to help raise money for the children of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Discounted tickets may be purchased in advance by calling the Gems office and mentioning your group is with St. Jude at 937-275-7777. The deadline for pre-sale tickets is Friday, October 22nd at 5:00 p.m. A portion of the proceeds raised from the tickets purchased through St. Jude's group will be donated back to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. There will be a ceremonial puck drop for a special family at the Gems game that night as well.
"We are thrilled about the partnership with the Dayton Gems hockey team!" said St. Jude Associate Director Emily Toney.
The Give thanks. Walk. serves as the kickoff to the St. Jude Thanks and Giving fundraising and awareness campaign. The Thanks and Giving campaign is an unprecedented union of celebrities, media, retail and corporate partners that asks consumers to "Give thanks for the healthy kids in your life, and give to those who are not." The Give thanks Walk will take place on Saturday, November 20th at the Dayton Mall. Registration begins at 9:00 a.m. and the walk itself will start at 10:00 a.m. Fans that would like to register online may do so by visiting www.givethankswalk.org .
"Being involved with local and national charities is very important to our organization," said Gems President Joe Greene. "Working with St. Jude is a great way to not only help out a wonderful cause but also make a difference in the lives of all of the kids that are a part of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital."
