PrairieThunder Defeats Fort Wayne 3-1 to Move Back into Third Place

The Bloomington PrairieThunder played solid defense on Wednesday night at U.S. Cellular Coliseum and defeated the high-flying Fort Wayne Komets 3-1. The PrairieThunder improves to 26-16-3 and catapult back into third place in the CHL's Turner Conference. Fort Wayne drops to 21-20-5 and remains in eighth place in the Turner Conference.

Fort Wayne scored first on this night as the K's Mathieu Curadeau scored a powerplay goal at 7:36 of the first period. But the PThunder would shut down the Komets offense after that and got goals from Brodie Sheahan, John Snowden, and Alan Mazur. Snowden's goal at 13:19 of the second period turned out to be the game winner, his team high seventh of the year. In goal, Marco Emond played the first 53 minutes of the game, stopping 21 of 22 shots, before leaving with an undisclosed injury. Emond got his 21 win of the year. Brad Phillips came on in relief and stopped all three shots he faced in the last seven minutes of the game.

The PrairieThunder heads to Moline, Illinois on Friday night to face the Quad City Mallards. Game time is 7:05pm and the game can be heard on WJBC-AM (1230), WJBC-FM (93.7), and WJBC.com. Fans are also invited to watch the game at BlueLine Nightclub, located at 602 N. Main Street in downtown Bloomington.
