Battochio Backstops Rush to Eleventh Straight Win with 3-0 Shutout of Colorado

(Rapid City, SD) - The Rapid City Rush (30-17-4) remained red hot with a 3-0 victory over the Colorado Eagles (29-18-3) on Tuesday night. Danny Battochio made 30 saves for his fifth shutout and 50 regular season win of his short career. The Rush win is the eleventh straight for the Rush, setting a new mark for the third-year franchise and also gives Rapid City a three-point cushion in first place of the Turner Conference.

All of the scoring took place within a fifteen minute and forty-two second span in the second period. The first goal came just 26 seconds into the period from Ryan Menei who sniped his league-leading 33rd goal to the season to the top-right corner. At the 7:29 mark, Jamie Carroll slid a pass to Josh Beaulieu who slid a shot through the five-hole of goaltender Andrew Penner, doubling the Rush lead. Finally, with four minutes left, Menei slid a pass to the left faceoff dot for Scott Wray who blasted home a one-timer giving the Rush an insurance goal.

Battochio was up to the task on all thirty shots faced for his third shutout of the season and league-leading 22nd win of the season. Andrew Penner was pulled after the third goal and dealt the loss on the night, dropping to 9-9-1.

The Rush now hit the road to face the Missouri Mavericks on Friday night at 6:35pm MST.
