Buck Nation, We Need Your Help
February 16, 2011 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Laredo Bucks News Release
LAREDO, TX- With the Laredo Bucks entering the stretch run of the 2010-11 season fighting for a Central Hockey League playoff spot, team President/General Manager and Head Coach Terry Ruskowski has issued this letter to Buck fans around the world.
Buck Nation,
As you all know, this season has not been a typical Laredo Bucks season. In fact, it has been unlike any other in our eight previous seasons. We have been fighting, scratching and clawing for wins all season, but have lost more than we have won, and that is not good enough. It's not good enough for me, it's not good enough for our players and it is not good enough for you, our great Bucks fans.
We have had a lot of adversity this season, more so than I can remember in years past. We have been hit very hard by injuries this season, with many guys we count on having been out for an extended period of time. That is not an excuse; we still need to win games. And I'm confident that once we get healthy again we will make a run for the playoffs, and maybe surprise some people down the stretch.
This is where we need your help, our great Bucks fans. Never in our history have these remaining regular season games been as important as they are now. We need your support now more than ever if we are going to make a run at the playoffs. I need you, but more importantly, our players need you. They need to see you fill the stands at the LEA cheering them on as we take on some tough opponents. The more Bucks fans in the stands the better we play. We would not have won two President's Cup championships without you by our side. Don't give up on us now, we need you.
This season is a bit similar to the 2004-05 year where we were hit with injuries, most notably Serge Dube. Dube missed a lot of that season and we were struggling to make the playoffs. When Dube came back at the end of the regular season he led us to a 12-0-1 record and we made the playoffs, eventually making it to the finals. This season Dube has missed a lot of time with an injury, but he is scheduled to come back soon. I don't know about you but I would love to see history repeat itself with what happened in 2004-05. One of the ways it can happen is with your support at the LEA. We have not given up as a team, and we will not give up because of great fans like you.
Thank you for your time, we appreciate your support, and we look forward to seeing you at the LEA for the stretch run as we try and make the playoffs.
God bless you all,
Terry Ruskowski
Bucks President/General Manager and Head Coach
