The Shorebirds took a 1-0 lead in the first off West Virginia starter John Kuchno, but the Power rallied back with a four-run third and a three-run fourth. Josh Bell hit his eighth home run this season to provide the key hit in the third; a two-run shot that pushed West Virginia ahead 4-1. Kuchno pitched five innings in the victory, his third of the season, before Ryan Hafner and Kyle Haynes closed out the game. Haynes notched his fifth save of the season in the process.
ALL-STAR POWER: West Virginia had six players selected to represent the club in the 2013 South Atlantic League All-Star Game, including three starters. Stetson Allie will play first base, Josh Bell will start in right field, and Dilson Herrera was selected as the starting shortstop. Walker Gourley was chosen as a reserve outfielder, while pitchers Orlando Castro and Tyler Glasnow were also selected to represent the Power. West Virginia, Hickory, Hagerstown, and Augusta each had six players selected by the leagueÂfs managers, coaches, general managers, and media.
