HICKORY, NC - The Hickory Crawdads entered the month of June in the thick of an exciting playoff race in the South Atlantic League Northern Division. With only 14 games left in the first half of the season, the 'Dads find themselves tied with the West Virginia Power just one game back of the Hagerstown Suns for first place.

The Crawdads went 3-4 over the past week, going 1-1 against Augusta, 1-3 against Rome and 1-0 vs. Lakewood.

Player and Team Notes

- The 'Dads 76 HR are still the most in all of Minor League Baseball. Asheville ranks 2nd in the SAL with only 50 HR.

- The Crawdads also rank 2nd in the SAL with a .425 slugging percentage. The 'Dads 788 total bases ranks 3rd.

- INF Joey Gallo (14) and INF Ryan Rua (14) are tied for 2nd in the SAL in home runs while OF Lewis Brinson (11) currently sits in third.

- The Crawdads lead the SAL in stolen base success rate at 78% with 54 stolen bases in 69 attempts.

- The quickly improving Crawdads pitching staff has lowered it's ERA to 4.12, good for 6th place in the SAL.

- The pitching staff has also allowed the 4th fewest HRs in the league, with only 29 balls having left the yard.

Six 'Dads Named to 2013 SAL All-Star Team

The South Atlantic League on Tuesday announced the rosters for the 2013 SAL All-Star Game, with the Crawdads represented by six players on the Northern Division Team. The roster includes INF Joey Gallo, INF Ryan Rua, C Jorge Alfaro, OF Lewis Brinson, RHP C.J. Edwards and LHP Alexander Claudio. The six players tie the Crawdads with West Virginia, Hagerstown and Greensboro for the most in the SAL. Read the entire article here!
