Hickory Crawdads News Release
Hickory, NC - Crawdads Park was home to a fun-filled environment on Sunday May 26th, as the Hickory Crawdads welcomed the Fur Circus to the ballpark for the first time. The circus-themed performance was a huge hit at the park, but the two organizations also reached out to the community with a visit to the J. Iverson Riddle Developmental Center.
The Fur Circus presents an authentic circus-themed performance comprised of a live action ringmaster, RIZZO, and three enFURtaining characters, Buddy the Bear, Myles the Monkey and Splash the Elephant. The Fur Circus takes time during every tour stop to visit a place in the community and bring the excitement to fans that might not get the chance to see them.
Before coming through to Crawdads Park, the Fur Circus teamed up with the 'Dads front office staff and made a stop at the J. Iverson Riddle Developmental Center. The Center provides extended care to residents that have been diagnosed with profound or severe mental retardation, or a related developmental disability. With help from the Volunteer Service Director Lynn Doll, the Circus act explored the residents' living facilities, stopping at each living home to dance, play games and have fun with the residents.
"The J. Iverson Riddle Developmental Center is always grateful to have the involvement of the community on our campus," said Doll. "The residents thoroughly enjoyed the Fur Circus and we are appreciative of the Crawdads for sharing them with us."
The Crawdads look to have more entertainment acts out this summer including the "Million Dollar Man" Ted Dibiase on July 6th, Chick-fil-A Christian Concert featuring Big Daddy Weave on August 3rd and Zooperstars presented by NAPA Autocare Centers, making a second appearance on August 24th.
