Power Sweeps Augusta in Double Dip

(Charleston, WV- August 13, 2014)- The West Virginia Power swept a doubleheader with the Augusta GreenJackets on Wednesday evening at Appalachian Power Park, taking both games by a final of 5-3. JaCoby Jones blasted two home runs and Kawika Emsley-Pai smashed a two-run home run in game two to lead the Power.

In game one, the Power and Jackets went back and forth before an RBI double off the bat of Ryan Jones in the sixth gave Augusta the 3-2 advantage.

In the bottom half of the sixth JaCoby Jones came through with a solo shot to tie the game. Then, in the bottom of the seventh, Jones smacked a two-run home run to give West Virginia the walk-off victory.

In game two, the Power raced out to an early lead with three in the second on a Wyatt Mathisen RBI base knock followed by a Kawika Emsley-Pai two-run home run. In the third, West Virginia pushed two more across to pull away.

Henry Hirsch (3-6) earned the win in game one while Luis Castillo (2-2) was charged with the loss. In the second game, Clario Perez (4-1) picked up the win and the loss was placed on Chase Johnson (3-7).

West Virginia visits the Lexington Legends on Thursday, August 14, at Whitaker Bank Ballpark. Buddy Borden will start against the Legends Cody Reed.
