Kannapolis Rallies for 9-5 Win over Legends

(KANNAPOLIS, N.C.) Kannapolis took command of the game with a seven-run seventh inning, and the Intimidators went on to a 9-5 win over the Lexington Legends Wednesday afternoon. The win completed a three-game sweep for Kannapolis.

The Legends built an early 2-0 lead on a first-inning homer by Dominique Taylor and a run-scoring single by Alexis Rivera in the second inning.

Kannapolis tied the game with single runs in the second and third, but the Legends took the lead again on a leadoff homer by Elier Hernandez in the fourth inning.

The score remained 3-2 Lexington until the bottom of the seventh. The Intimidators sent 11 batters to the plate, and scored seven runs on five hits, including a two-run triple by T. J. Williams. The Intimidators benefited from an error, a walk and a hit batsman during the inning and took a 9-3 lead.

Frank Schwindel's two-run homer for in the eighth for Lexington left the final margin at 9-5.

Kannapolis reliever Jeff McKenzie (3-4) got the win. Luis Rico (3-8), who took over for starter Matt Alvarez in the fifth inning, was the losing pitcher.

The Legends return home to begin a seven-game homestand Thursday night against West Virginia. Game time is 7:05 p.m.
