Power Outage: RiverDogs Fall 10-3 in Series Finale

CHARLESTON, W. Va. - The Charleston RiverDogs jumped out to an early lead, but could not withstand the West Virginia Power's offensive onslaught and fell 10-3 in the finale of the four-game series and seven-game road trip, Tuesday afternoon at Appalachian Power Park.

Charleston (19-13) took a 1-0 lead in the first inning, courtesy of an RBI fielder's choice off the bat of Isaias Tejeda. The R'Dogs had two chances with the bases loaded and nobody out in the frame, but couldn't notch more than the one run.

The lead was short-lived as the Power (18-13) took advantage of an error on a fielder's choice and tied the game in the next half inning. Elvis Escobar gave West Virginia the lead for good with an RBI single in the second against Charleston's Joey Maher.

The score remained 2-1 in the fifth, before the Power plated three runs with just one hit in the inning. Pablo Reyes led off the inning with a single before Maher (1-2) hit the following two hitters to load the bases. The starter's outing came to an end when he hit his third batter of the inning, which plated another run and made it 3-1. Dillon McNamara walked in a run and gave up a fielder's choice for the final two runs, which upped the lead to four.

Following the three-run fifth, the Power plated five against McNamara in the sixth and took a 10-1 lead into the late innings.

The RiverDogs added a tally in the seventh on an RBI double by Angel Aguilar and another in the ninth when Devyn Bolasky hit his first-career home run, a solo blast to right field.

COMING UP: Following the off-day Wednesday, the RiverDogs return to The Joe and get ready to open up a four-game, weekend series against the Greenville Drive, Thursday night at 7:05 p.m. Charleston is scheduled to send LHP Justin Kamplain (1-4, 4.26) to the hill, he will be matched by Greenville's LHP Dedgar Jimenez (1-1, 3.00).
