Rome, GA - The Rome Braves were defeated by the Greensboro Grasshoppers Tuesday afternoon 2-1 before a crowd of 4,152 at State Mutual Stadium.
The game was scoreless until the eighth inning when Greensboro scored a run on Austen Smith's RBI single. The Grasshoppers made it a 2-0 game in the ninth on Ryan Aper's RBI double. Rome didn't go quietly in bottom of the ninth as Matt Tellor walked and later scored on Braxton Davidson's double but Greensboro shut the Braves down the rest of the inning for the 2-1 final.
Kyle Fischer (1-2) picks up the victory for the Grasshoppers while Rome's Dustin Emmons (0-1) is hit with the loss. Luis Castillo (3) earns his third save of the season.
Rome hits the road for Asheville to begin a four game series on Thursday before returning home on Monday May 18th to starting an eight game home stand including a doubleheader on Friday May 22nd. For information contact the Rome Braves at 706-378-5144 or log onto www.romebraves.com.
