POWER REPLAY: West Virginia snapped a two game losing streak with a 4-3 win on Saturday evening against the Hickory Crawdads. The Power scored twice in the first and once in a the fourth to a build a 3-0 lead, but the Crawdads rallied to tie the game at three after five and a half. In the bottom of the sixth, Elias Diaz drove in Dan Gamache with a sacrifice fly. Power starter Mike Jefferson earned the win with his second straight quality start and the duo of Robbie Kilcrease and Nathan Kilcrease made the one run lead stand up for the victory. Three players had two hits apiece to key the offense.
3.5 BEHIND WITH EIGHT TO GO: Hagerstown swept a doubleheader with Delmarva on Saturday and moved 3.5 games ahead of both West Virginia and Hickory. All three clubs have nine games remaining this season.
GRAB THE STEAMPOT: The Power are 46-38 all-time against the Crawdads dating back to 2005 and have a 28-14 mark at Appalachian Power Park. Hickory's victory on Thursday guaranteed that the Crawdads will win the season series for the third straight year against the affiliate of their old parent club (1999-2008).
HOME SWEET HOME: Robby Rowland will make his second to last start of the season this afternoon. Five of the right-hander's eight wins have come at Appalachian Power Park this season. Over 47.2 innings pitched at home this season, Rowland has a 3.21 ERA with 32 strikeouts and 7 walks.
ORGANIZATIONAL TREND: West Virginia pitchers have hit 110 batters this season and lead all full season teams in the category regardless oflevel. The Bradenton Marauders (87) and Altoona Curve (81) also lead their respective leagues in hit batters.
AVILA POINTS: Eric Avila saw his 13 game hitting streak stopped on Saturday night with an 0-4 performance. The third baseman batted .400 over his streak with 20 hits in 50 at bats, launched seven home runs, and drove in 18... Eric Avila was named as the South Atlantic League's Player of the Week for August 13-19. The Power infielder hit .423 over seven games with nine runs batted in and hit home runs in four consecutive games while the club played in Kannapolis last week.
26 DOWN AND 1 TO GO: Nick Kingham leads the SAL with 26 starts this season and is lined up to start one more game in 2012. The right-hander has compiled 108 strikeouts over 120.0 innings pitched, both tops on the club. Since 2009, only Hunter Strickland (126.1 in 2009), Jason Erickson (128.2 in 2010), and Zack Von Rosenberg (125.1 last year) have thrown more innings.

AROUND THE ORGANIZATION: Pittsburgh blanked Milwaukee 4-0... Indianapolis beat Columbus 8-6 on a walk-off home run by Dallas McPherson... Altoona shut out Richmond 3-0... Bradenton beat Jupiter 4-1. The Marauders are 2.5 games behind Jupiter with eight games left... State College shut out Jamestown 5-0. Clay Holmes earned the win with five shutout innings.
