Davies: Allowed 2 R on 5 H over 5.0 IP with 6 K and 4 BB in 6/27 ND vs. HAG (8-4 Suns)
POWER REPLAY: West Virginia was tripped by Delmarva in a 4-2 loss Monday. The Power took a 1-0 lead in the first on a RBI single from Willy Garcia and added a run in the second on a groundout for an early edge. The Shorebirds halved the deficit in the fourth and took the lead off Power starter Robby Rowland with a two-run sixth inning on Adam Davis's first home run of the season. West Virginia outhit the Shorebirds 9-7, but all nine were singles and the Power couldn't bring home any other runs.
SALISBURY SHOWDOWN ENDS: West Virginia concludes it only 2012 trip to Arthur W. Purdue Stadium when they take on the Shorebirds tonight. The teams will meet in Charleston later this month and then against during the final weekend of the season. The Power and Shorebirds have played 98 times since 2005 and the series is once again split evenly with each club having won 49 times.
HAFNER THEN HOME: Ryan Hafner will face Delmarva for the first time in his career when he takes the mound tonight. The right-hander was in the Power bullpen during the three game series in early June between the clubs, but did not pitch. Once this series ends, West Virginia will return home to take on the Lakewood BlueClaws in a five game series before hitting the road to Georgia for the first time this season.
APPALACHIAN POWER PARK UPDATE: Despite recent storms in the Charleston area, Appalachian Power Park is at full power and received little damage due to high winds on Friday night. The homestand that begins on July 4 will start as scheduled.
ALL-TIMER: The Power's 21 hits in Sunday's win were the most by a West Virginia team in any single game since June 8, 2009. The franchise record for hits in a game is 25, set on June 12, 2007 at Hickory in a 24-13 victory.
5 FOR 5: Gregory Polanco became the first Power player in over three years to have five hits in a single game for West Virginia with his efforts on Sunday. Polanco reached base on a single, three doubles, a triple, and added a walk for good measure in a 15-10 Power victory. The last West Virginia player to reach base on five hits in a game was Robbie Grossman on June 18, 2009, at Hickory.
DRIVE 'EM IN: Willy Garcia had one hit in the offensive show Sunday, but managed to drive in five runs. The Power outfielder drove in runs on ground outs in the third and fifth innings and hit a three run home run in the eighth inning. Matt Curry was the last player to drive in five in a game (May 8, 2011 at Augusta).
PROMO CHECK- JULY 4: West Virginia's next BIG 12 promotional night is July 4 at 7:05 pm against Lakewood. The team will host appearances by Dora the Explorer, Spongebob Squarepants, and Foofa from Yo Gabba Gabba. The evening will end with a post game fireworks show.
POWER POINTS: Alen Hanson's hitting streak was stopped at 12 games with an 0-5 Monday night. Hanson hit .435 over his streak with two home runs and seven runs batted in... Ashley Ponce's four run Sunday was the first four run game by a Power player since Tony Sanchez scored four times in a game at Hickory on August 10, 2009. Prior to Sunday, Ponce had scored once in six other games this season with the Power.
AROUND THE ORGANIZATION: Pittsburgh beat Houston 11-2 and remained one game back of Cincinnati in the NL Central... Indianapolis knocked off Louisville 6-4 in 14 innings... Altoona beat Binghamton 6-2... Bradenton doubled up Charlotte 6-3. Alex Dickerson hit his seventh home run in the victory... State College lost 5-3 against Batavia at home.
