POWER REPLAY: West lost 7-6 in walk-off fashion to the Lakewood BlueClaws last night. The Power took a 6-0 lead after three innings, including plating a pair on Jose Osuna's fifth home run of the season. The Claws, boosted by a rehab appearance by Philadelphia All-Star Ryan Howard, scored once in the fourth and trailed by three after five thanks to two runs batted in by Howard. Lakewood added a solo home run in the eighth before scoring three in the bottom of the ninth off Power reliever Vince Payne. Chris Duffy singled in the tying and winning runs with two outs for the BlueClaws win. Howard had two hits in four at bats and drove in three, plus helped Lakewood draw over 8,000 fans for the night.

SEE YOU REAL SOON: West Virginia is coming off a four game series split against Lakewood. The BlueClaws now lead the all-time series 54-46, though the Power won't have to wait long to change that. West Virginia hosts Lakewood from July 4 though 8 at Appalachian Power Park.

NINE LOOKING FOR A DIME: Alen Hanson went three for four last night to extend his current streak to nine in a row dating back to June 16. The Power shortstop is batting 452 during this stretch, which is his longest since a 16 game streak in April. The April streak was the longest in the league until earlier this month when Kannapolis's Mark Haddow hit safely in 17 straight.

BRING ON THE BIRDS: West Virginia and Delmarva had squared off 94 times since 2005 and the all-time series is even at 47 wins apiece. The Power and Shorebirds will meet 13 times in the second half of the year, though the series that starts tonight is the only one to be played in Salisbury, MD.

DOUBLE-A STARS: Former Power All-Stars Ramon Cabrera (2010) and Brandon Cumpton (2011) have been selected to participate in the 2012 Eastern League All-Star Game on July 11 at Reading's FirstEnergy Stadium. It is the third straight season Cabrera, batting .241 with two home runs and 31 runs batted in, has been named as an All-Star. He was also selected for the Florida State League mid-summer classic in 2011. Cumpton is 7-6 with a 3.43 ERA for the Altoona, which will also have shortstop Brock Holt in the game. Holt won the Eastern League's 2011 All-Star Game MVP award.

BACK TO THE FUTURE(S): Former Power pitcher Jameson Tallion was selected to participate in the 2012 Futures Game during the Major League Baseball All-Star festivities in Kansas City on July 8. Tallion went 2-3 with a 3.98 ERA for West Virginia last year and is 4-6 with a 4.10 ERA for Bradenton this season. He will be joined on the U.S. roster by fellow Pirates Prospect Gerrit Cole. Tallion would be the first former Power player to appear in a Futures Game since Starling Marte in 2010. Chase d'Arnaud was selected last year but could not play due to a Major League promotion.

PROMO UPDATE- JULY 4: West Virginia's next BIG 12 promotional night is July 4 at 7:05 pm against Lakewood. The team will host appearances by Dora the Explorer, Spongebob Squarepants, and Foofa from Yo Gabba Gabba. The evening will end with a post game fireworks show.

Eric Fryer (WV Power- 2008) was added to the Pirates 40-man roster Tuesday and recalled to Pittsburgh. Starting catcher Rod Barajas is day-to-day with an injury. Fryer made his Major League debut last season.
