TONIGHT'S MATCHUP

RH Caleb Cotham (2-1, 2.67) vs. RH Ryan Hafner (0-2, 7.71)

Cotham: Allowed 1 R on 4 H with 7 K and over 5.0 IP in 5/05 ND vs. DEL (6-4 Shorebirds in 10)

Hafner: Allowed 0 R on 2 H with 3 K and 1 BB over 5.0 IP in 5/05 ND @ GBO (3-2 Hoppers)

POWER REPLAY: West Virginia lost 15-3 on Thursday night to the Charleston RiverDogs. The RiverDogs scored at least one run in six different innings, including three in the eighth and five in the ninth. Matt Benedict took the loss while Mariel Checo notched the win. Kirk Singer had two of West Virginia's four hits and Gregory Polanco added a solo home run.

AT A LOSS FOR WINS: The Power have lost five in a row heading into tonight's game against the RiverDogs. Of the 22 defeats this season, 20 of them have come during a losing streak. West Virginialost five straight during the opening road trip of the season, seven in a row from April 16 through 24, three in a row April 27-29, and now this five game stretch.

HAFNER'S TURN: Ryan Hafner makes his fourth start of the season tonight. The right-hander is coming off his best start of the season: five shutout innings in a May 4 start at Greenboro. That appearance lowered Hafner's ERA from 13.50 to 7.71.

RELIEVERS ROTATED: Pittsburgh made two roster moves earlier today that affect West Virginia's bullpen. Justin Ennis and Joan Montero were transferred to the State College Spike roster. The Pirates transferred Josh Poytress back from Altoona and sent Porifiro Lopez down from Bradenton to fill the void. Ennis has a 6.48 ERA for the Power over seven appearances while Montero has a 23.50 ERA after four games. Neither player had factored in any decisions during their time on the roster. Poytress and Lopez have each already spent time on the Power roster this season.

WEST V. SOUTH: West Virginia and Charleston will meet for a total of 14 games against each other in 2012 after having met 15 times in 2011. The RiverDogs swept a four game series in South Carolina in April and own a 21-19 edge in the all-time series dating back to 2005. West Virginia has a record of 9-7 at home in this series and has gone 10-14 since 2005 at Charleston's Joseph P. Riley Jr. Park down south.

A DIAZ CATCHES NO MATTER WHAT: The Pittsburgh Pirates transferred Francisco Diaz to West Virginia's roster on Wednesday from Bradenton. The 22-year old catcher replaces Jonathan Schwind on the Power roster after Schwind was transferred to State College. Diaz was acquired from Philadelphia in the Triple-A phase of the Rule Five draft during 2011 and has appeared in 10 games for the Marauders this season, batting .167. Francisco Diaz joins Elias Diaz as the only catchers on the West Virginia roster.

PROMO UPDATE- MAY 25: The Power will play a day-night doubleheader on May 25 against Kannapolis. The first game will start at 11:05 am and will be thefinal Grand Slam School Day of the season. The 7:05 pm nightcap will serve as a Hometown Heros game with a special discounted ticket package available for local law enforcement, fire, and life safety personnel.

POWER POINTS: New Method will perform a post-game concert during Faith and Family Night this evening... Carlos Mesa is hitless in his last four games, spanning 16 at bats. He has been retired nine times by strikeout during that stretch... Junior Sosa and Chris Lashmet each have active 16 game on-base streaks heading into their next contests. Those tallies match the longest by any Power player this season (Alen Hanson's 16-game hitting streak in April).

AROUND THE ORGANIZATION: Pittsburgh lost 4-2 to the Washington Nationals at PNC Park. Steven Strasburg struck out 13 Pirates and gained the win... Indianapolis fell 5-1 to Lehigh Valley... Altoona was doubled up 8-4 by Erie... Jameson Taillion pitched six shutout innings in Bradenton's 16-3 win over Clearwater.
