LAKEWOOD, N.J. - LAKEWOOD, N.J. - Neither team scored after the 4th inning, but Greensboro jumped out to an early 5-1 lead over Lakewood, and that score held-up as the Grasshoppers took Game 2 of the four-game series.

Jose Fernandez allowed one run in seven innings and moves his record to 4-0 with an ERA now at 1.67. He struck out seven batters in the ballgame and has struck out a South Atlantic League-best 52 batters in 43.0 innings this season.

Ervis Manzanillo was charged with the loss and has his record drop to 0-3. He allowed the first five runs of the ballgame- three earned- on eight hits and two walks in 4.0 innings. Mike Nesseth, Luis Paulino and James Birmingham combined to allow one run in five innings of work out of the bullpen to hold the deficit, but the BlueClaws offense could never get a rally going against Greensboro's pitchers.

The lone run the BlueClaws scored came in the 3rd inning when Logan Moore led-off the inning with a double. After advancing to third base on a Gustavo Gonzalez groundout, Gauntlett Eldemire drove him home with a sacrifice fly to right field.

The BlueClaws and Grasshoppers continue the four-game series with Game 3 Saturday at FirstEnergy Park. Lakewood will send Kenny Giles (0-1, 3.86) to the mound against Greensboro's Josh Hodges (2-0, 4.40) as both teams looking to win their second game of the series . First pitch is scheduled for 4:05 p.m.
