Rome Emperors News Release
Rome, GA - The Rome Braves were defeated by the Asheville Tourists 10-3 Friday night at State Mutual Stadium in front of 4,026 fans. Asheville was on the board with two runs in the top of the first on an RBI single by Tyler Massey and an RBI double by Will Sawnner to give the Tourists an early 2-0 lead. They would score an additional two runs in the second on a Jared Simon two-run homer for the 4-0 score. The Braves would close the gap 4-1 in the third thanks to a Will Skinner (4) solo homerun. Skinner would also contribute by driving home two runs in the fifth, cutting the Asheville lead 4-3.
That would be all the offense that Rome could muster as Asheville would take a 5-3 advantage in the sixth on a sacrifice fly by Harold Riggins and would score an additional five runs in the ninth for a 10-3 final.
Will Skinner accounted for all of the Braves runs and would end the night 3-4 with a single, a double and homerun.
Tyler Anderson (1-0) would get the win in his first professional start for the Tourists. Anderson went five innings, giving up seven hits and two earned runs. AJ Holland (1-6) records the loss.
