BRING ON THE BIRDS: The Power close out the 2011 season on the road at Delmarva, continuing their five game series this afternoon. West Virginia trails the all-time set by one at 45-44, and have gone 15-23 at Arthur W. Purdue Stadium since 2005. The Power took 10 of 18 last season, including nine of 13 at Appalachian Power Park. DONE AT HOME: The Power concluded their 2011 home schedule on Tuesday with a loss to Lexington.
The Power finished with winning record at home for the first time since 2008 while still affiliated with Milwaukee, holding a 34-33 record at home this season. West Virginia went 33-34 in 2009 during their first year as a Pirates affiliate, and had a 34-35 mark last season.
FULL THROTTLE: One day after reaching on a season-high 19 hits, West Virginia amassed the most runs they have scored in any game since the affiliation with Pittsburgh began in 2009. The Power's 17 run outburst Monday was the most by the club since August 8, 2008 against Hickory while still affiliated with Milwaukee. West Virginia beat the Crawdads 17-1 that day.
RECORD HIGH OF ZEROS: West Virginia pitchers worked their 13th shutout of the season on Thursday to extend their club record. The Power worked their 11th shutoutof the season on August 11, surpassing the previous season high of 10 combined shutouts by the 2006 club when the Power were still affiliated with Milwaukee.
