CHARLESTON, S.C. - Shane Greene threw 6.0 superb frames and the Charleston offense banged out 12 hits as the RiverDogs dispatched of the Asheville Tourists, 8-1, in South Atlantic League action Sunday evening in front of a crowd of 4,142 fans at Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park.

The RiverDogs improved to 28-41 this half and 54-85 overall with the victory, while the Tourists regressed to 38-31 and 69-69 and were eliminated from playoff contention.

Greene (5-14) retired the side in order in the first, but allowed the Tourists to take a 1-0 lead in the second. Dustin Garneau started the frame with a single, and came around to score on a Joey Wong RBI single. Wong's base knock had a chance to produce two runs, but Kelvin De Leon delivered a one-hop strike to the plate to keep the deficit at one.

Asheville's Josh Mueller (6-7) induced a double play to weasel his way out of a bases loaded jam in the first, but could not protect the lead in the last of the second.

Jose Mojica ripped a groundball double past the third base bag, and scurried plateward on Jose Toussen's fielder's choice bunt. Ramon Flores pushed the RiverDogs ahead, 2-1, two batters later by plugging the hole on the right side of the infield with a RBI single.

The RiverDogs piled on with two more tallies in the third to force Mueller from the bump and forge a 4-1 advantage. Jeff Farnham registered an RBI walk, and Daniel Lopez recorded his first RBI as a RiverDog by singling through the originator.

Mueller lasted only 2.0+ innings, yielding the four runs on four hits and four walks.

Two more runs produced a 6-1 lead against Tourists' reliever Josh Hungerman in the fourth inning. Kevin Mahoney found the right-center field alley with a RBI triple, and

Greene was masterful after the second inning, finding his command to break a string of seven consecutive starts with at least three walks. The Clermont, Florida native breezed through six frames, permitting just the one run on five hits and a walk, while racking up seven strikeouts.

Charleston came through with the final two scores of the contest in the fifth, as Jose Toussen brought home a run with a double play ball before Jose Rosario capped the scoring with a RBI infield single to plate Mojica.
