Suns Swat Back-To-Back Jacks, Topple BlueClaws, 4-2

Hagerstown, MD- The Hagerstown Suns (74-64, 34-34) used back-to-back solo home runs from RF Kevin Keyes and SS Jason Martinson to topple the Lakewood BlueClaws (68-68, 35-33) in game four on Sunday night at Municipal Stadium in the penultimate contest of the campaign. After undergoing an eight game losing slide, the Suns have now won three in a row with an opportunity to finish the 2011 season on a four-game winning streak. The Suns won the series with Lakewood using ten hits, overcoming two errors. Hagerstown now owns a (14-9) record head-to-head against Lakewood.

Suns RHP A.J. Cole, spun 5.0 innings and allowed five hits, two earned runs, and one walk.

Meanwhile, LHP Ervis Manzanillo gunned through 5.0 frames and surrendered one earned run on five hits, one walk, and four strikeouts.

Hagerstown tagged the scoreboard first with one run in the 1st inning on an RBI single by C David Freitas rocketed into right field, scoring CF Michael Taylor, who dribbed a single up the middle.

Lakewood tallied individual runs in the 4th and 5th as CF Zach Collier served a run scoring single into right field plating SS Carlos Perdomo, who wrapped an infield single, and LF Miguel Alvarez scored when Perdomo reached on a fielder's choice through 2B Blake Kelso.

Suns RHP Wilson Eusebio (1-7), the winning pitcher, went two scoreless stanzas with no walks and one strikeout.

The home team blasted their way to a three-run spot in the last of the 6th inning when Keyes led off with a solo blast into the right center field gap, his 17th of the year, and the next batter, Martinson sent a rocket into the visiting bullpen for another solo shot. Martinson leads the club with 19 four-baggers. This was the third time the bash brothers lifted back-to-back jacks.

The losing pitcher, RHP Ebelin Lugo (0-3) gave up all three runs on four hits, while walking none and striking out one.

After a 49 minute rain delay in the middle of the 7th inning, RHP Dean Weaver (SV 3) earned his third save of the season through 2.0 scoreless innings.

On Monday afternoon, Labor Day, the Suns will host their final game of the 2011 season, a 2:05pm first pitch. Hagerstown will bring RHP Matt Swynenberg (6-3, 3.77) to the hill to face LHP Austin Wright (1-1, 1.50).
