
BlueClaws Drop 3rd Straight to Hagerstown

HAGERSTOWN, MD - It was a rainy night in Hagerstown, and the Lakewood BlueClaws (35-33) dropped their 3rd straight to the Hagerstown Suns (34-34) on Sunday night by a score of 4-2. For the 3rd straight day the BlueClaws bullpen let a lead slip awaylate, this time with Hagerstown scoring 3 times in the bottom of the 6th inning. Lakewood now trails the series 3-1, and is just 3-9 in Hagerstown this year.
Hagerstown jumped out to 1-0 lead with a run in the bottom of the 1st inning off Lakewod starter Ervis Manzanillo. Lakewood scored 1 run in the 4th and a run in the 5th to take a 2-1 lead, but it was just not meant to be. Ervis Manzanillo had a nice start in his final start of the year allowing just 1 run over 5 solid innings. He struck out 4 and allowed 5 hits in getting a No Decision.
Back-to-back Home Runs by Kevin Keyes (19th) and Jason Martinson (17th) in the bottom of the 6th inning put the Suns on top 3-2. They scored another run later in the inning on an RBI single by Wade Moore to make it 4-2. All 3 runs in the 6th came off of BlueClaws reliever Ebelin Lugo who falls to 0-3 in 3 outings with Lakewood. Wilson Eusebio got his first win of the year for Hagerstown to move to 1-7, and Dean Weaver collected his 2rd save with the Suns.
Monday will mark the end of the 2011 season for the BlueClaws. Lakewood will start LHP Austin Wright (1-1, 1.50 ERA) in the finale, and Hagerstown will send out RHP Matt Swynenberg (6-3, 3.77 ERA). The 137th and final game of 2011 for Lakewood will begin at 2:05 pm on Labor Day.
